About the Team and Role

Are you looking for an exciting challenge working within the Public Rights of Way Team in GCC Highways managing and processing Public Path Orders?

The County Council is looking to recruit a Public Path Orders Officer who will work within a team, to manage and process applications for public path orders from initial consultation through to completion to change the path network. 

Ensuring adherence to legal processes, policies and protocols; to deliver improvements and changes to the PROW network, you will be a key contact for stakeholders advising and negotiating on the legal changes proposed, providing a high level of customer service. 

About You

As Path Orders Officer working with a colleague, you will act as the frontline customer interface for PROW changes arising from landowners and schemes to seek path improvement through the legal order process. You will be an experienced PROW professional or experienced in dealing with legal processes, advising colleagues within the authority and third parties including agents and solicitors.

With your thorough understanding of legal processes and knowledge of legislation and procedures relating to public rights of way you will carry out consultations, negotiate best outcomes, produce precise maps and accurate legal orders. Where necessary you will attend hearings and public inquiries, sometimes as the Council’s expert witness. 

An excellent communicator able to lead complex conversations and negotiations regarding proposed path changes. Providing an excellent level of customer service to external customers and Council members through face to face, written and verbal communications.
