Job description
People with disabilities often face barriers to gain employment, despite having the skills and enthusiasm to make a difference at work. Join National Star’s friendly Job Coach team help young adults with disabilities to secure the job that they deserve.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Job Coach Team Leader to manage our team of Job Coaches, leading the team working with our learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to find opportunities and support them into employment or voluntary work that meets their aspirations, developing and delivering work outcomes that achieve the best results for individual students on Work Based Learning and Work Outcomes programmes, which include Supported Internships, and Adult Employability programmes.

National Star’s Job Coaches support a wide range of students, preparing them for the world of work by building their confidence, improving their employability skills and helping them to decide where their future career aspirations lie. They also use their networking skills to broker future work placement opportunities either within National Star (for example in our Bistro or student shop) or with a range of employers from small independent businesses to large multi-nationals and high street retailers.

Your role will be varied and as well as the day to day management of your team, providing leadership, vision, direction, guidance and support, you will focus on the development and evaluation of our work-based learning programmes and strategies to monitor our own performance and ensure that we are at the forefront of best practice.

You will need excellent communication skills to develop partnerships with employers and community organisations as well as collaborating with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students’ employment goals and achievements.

With previous experience of managing a team, you will bring enthusiasm, energy and commitment, along with great initiative, self-motivation and good written skills. We would also expect you to have previous experience working with individuals with SEND, preferably in a vocational or employment support capacity which will demonstrate your ability to build positive relationships and achieving outcomes with external partners to secure successful work placements.

As we have job coaches based on various sites and we will require you to be actively representing both the job coach team and National Star at employer sites or employment events we prefer that you have access to our own transport for this role.
