Farm Veterinary Administrator
Quedgeley
We are looking for a positive and confident individual to join our office support team as a farm administrator. If you enjoy having a varied day, thrive on details and learning something new everyday, then we have the role for you.
Wood Vet Group is a busy and exciting place to work with our dedicated team of farm vets, TB testers, Vet Tech and foot trimmer all supported by our brilliant team of farm administrators. We have an onsite laboratory handling internal and external samples that sits alongside our farm services. We also have a companion animal hospital working side by side with us making up the Woods team at our main Quedgeley site as well as a small companion animal branch at Longlevens.
We gather regularly as a team for Christmas parties, summer socials, quiz nights, the very popular pancake day, after work pub walks, darts, bowling, yoga in the meeting room and much more – there is something for everyone at Woods. With our recent refurbishment we have a lovely communal break room with instant hot water and chilled water, local milk in the fridge and a new outside seating area for summer breaks on the lawn.
Excellent computer skills and a decisive but cheerful phone manner sit at the core of this opportunity but answering the phone really is just the beginning of a wide-ranging role supporting clients, team members and suppliers alike.
All training will be provided for the role but experience with farming or the veterinary sector is a real bonus. As part of the farm support team the role includes managing the on-farm diary, booking and allocating new and emergent calls with clients, scheduling government mandated testing and exports with clients, managing stock levels and orders as well as dispensing medication and updating client records using our practice management software and handheld billing devices.
The support team help us in every way – organising meetings and sending newsletters, sourcing stock and specialist equipment, checking how today’s calving went, joining training to hear about the latest medicine launch or new industry initiative protecting our livestock industry.
We liaise directly with government agencies for export, TB and disease outbreak management all of which is operated through specialised web portals and makes up a regular part of the office workload, so we need someone who is computer savvy and thrives in a protocol and process focused role.
We handle significant amounts of data and must always provide a professional and confidential service to our clients. We do all of this to provide the very best of care to our farmers, their businesses and their livestock and so a real empathy and excellent communication skills are vital – they ring us in times of need, so our support team are there for them as much as they are for us.
Cows and sheep are our main animal of choice amongst the team, but we also dabble in goats, pheasants, pet pigs and a few others beside – there is never a dull day with us.
