Respiratory Practice Nurse
Cheltenham
Part Time Experienced Practice Respiratory Nurse wanted for a busy Doctors Surgery
Due to our patient registration list increasing, we would like to expand our work force to improve patient access. Our GP surgery is based at St Pauls Medical Centre in Cheltenham, our current clinical team includes 5 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 specialist paramedics, 4 practice nurses led by our lead nurse, we also have phlebotomists/HCA and pharmacists.

Practice Nurse Job
We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse, with an interest in respiratory, to join our friendly team for two days per week. The successful candidate will provide direct care to patients with respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
ROLE SUMMARY:
Work clinically to provide highly skilled evidence based long term condition management to patients as an essential part of the health care provided by St George’s Surgery. You will need to be trained and competent to undertake comprehensive health checks for a range of respiratory patients and be skilled in the management of asthma and COPD. You will hold a diploma in asthma/COPD & will be competent and confident in undertaking and analysing spirometry and FeNO testing.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To hold responsibility for delivery of long-term condition management clinics for a defined cohort of patients and undertake holistic assessments of patients, including those with complex health needs, make a nursing diagnosis, and develop appropriate plans of care with clear timelines for evaluation.
• To be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, implementing, planning and reviewing care needs for patients in partnership with patients, carers and multi-professional teams, in line with local policies and procedures, local commissioned service requirements and best practice guidance.
• To support and participate in staff training and development to ensure delivery of high-quality evidence-based nursing care and clinical competence.
• To work with the wider multidisciplinary team in a proactive way with the aim of preventing hospital admission and reduce GP contact.
• To demonstrate clinical expertise and competence within the speciality and work autonomously, managing own allocated clinics independently.
• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating
Salary: depending on experience
