Technical Architect
South West, Gloucestershire, Rosehill - Hybrid
The Technical Architect will work with the development teams to support the detailed implementation of Solution Architecture designs on a day-to-day basis. The Technical Architect should act as conduit and ambassador between architecture and development translating the designs into working software solutions and ensuring alignment to the architectural principles and design patterns.
Key accountabilities:
• Provide deep specialist knowledge of the relevant technologies for UCAS engineering teams including coaching and mentoring to the engineering teams.
• Accountable for producing & documenting detailed low-level technical software and interface specifications from solution architecture designs, ensuring correct governance procedures are followed.
• Collaborate with development teams and architects to ensure clear understanding of designs and any implementation details are resolved in line with strategic targets.
• Responsible for ensuring services and components adhere to the relevant architecture principles, standards, policies, and engineering guardrails.
• Develop prototypes and undertake evaluation work to support solution architecture design.
• Create and maintain any necessary technical documentation for both internal and external audiences.

Skills, qualifications, and experience
• Five+ years’ experience in software development for high-scale, resilient, secure cloud-based web applications with API led connectivity, OR equivalent expertise.
• Able to demonstrate relevant software design skills
• A highly organised individual, comfortable working with and influencing peers at a high technical level.
• Educated to degree level in relevant computing discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to build positive and productive collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and business partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively to both non- technical and technical audiences
• Experience of working successfully in a dynamic, large-scale agile department with multiple technologies.
• Able to adapt various ways of working and approaches according to the need
Knowledge and understanding of the following is desirable:
• Microsoft technologies (Azure, O365, SharePoint, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS) and .Net architectures. (C#, .Net Core/.Net 6.0 and above, Web API, MVC)
• Java technologies (Java, JSP, Servlets)
• Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres and MySQL database technologies
• Understanding of AWS products and services along with experience of using AWS to integrate applications.
