Prep IT Lead (with classroom support)

Early applications are encouraged, as we reserve the right to appoint before the closing date should a suitable candidate be identified.
Cheltenham College is looking for a friendly, experienced and customer-focused IT Technician to provide dedicated IT support within our Prep School.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys working with people as much as technology. You'll play an important role in supporting teaching and learning, helping staff and pupils make the most of the technology available in one of the UK's leading independent schools.
We're especially keen to hear from candidates who have experience working in an educational setting and understand the unique pace and variety of school life. Whether your background is in school IT support, educational technology or even teaching IT, we'd love to hear from you.
As the dedicated IT Technician within the Prep School, you will work to develop strong working relationships with your Prep colleagues, becoming a familiar and trusted member of the community. You will provide responsive day-to-day support, build strong relationships with colleagues and help create a positive experience for everyone using technology across the school.
Working closely with the wider College IT Department, you'll contribute to maintaining a reliable, secure and modern IT environment that enables staff to teach with confidence and pupils to learn effectively.
This role is about more than fixing technical issues. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, communicating with people and finding practical ways to make technology work well for everyone. You'll have the opportunity to share ideas, encourage best practice and play an active part in the continued development of IT services across the College.
You will maintain a visible presence throughout the Prep by regularly circulating the site, visiting classrooms, and working closely with teachers and pupils to identify and resolve IT issues proactively. The school has a strict policy on mobile phone usage in front of pupils, so once teaching is underway, contacting IT Support becomes challenging, making this confident and proactive approach crucial to the smooth running of class activities and learning.
You will join a supportive and collaborative IT Department that looks after a diverse technology environment, including Apple and Microsoft platforms, classroom technologies and a range of digital learning systems. If you are someone who takes pride in delivering excellent service, enjoys working as part of a team and wants to make a genuine difference within a vibrant school community, we'd be delighted to receive your application.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide dedicated first and second-line IT support for staff and pupils within the Prep School.
• Ensure classroom technology, staff devices, printers, audio-visual equipment and digital learning systems are maintained to a consistently high standard.
• Build strong working relationships with teaching and support staff, delivering responsive technical support and practical advice that enables effective teaching and learning.
• Configure, deploy and maintain Apple Macs, iPads, Windows devices and associated peripherals.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve a broad range of technical issues, escalating more complex incidents where appropriate.
• Support school events, performances and other activities requiring technical assistance.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider College IT Department to maintain and continually improve IT services.
• Contribute to the security, resilience and effective management of the College's IT infrastructure and equipment
Salary: £25,000–£30,000 per annum (full-time equivalent), depending on skills and experience.

Occasional Saturday morning support is required as part of the IT Support rota. Planned work during school holiday periods will also be required to support device refresh programmes, classroom readiness and wider IT projects.
