Flexible working
We offer both full-time and part-time opportunities. Full-time roles are based on a 37-hour working week, with flexibility around the start and finish times. Part-time roles are available for a minimum of four days per week. Compressed hours and flexible arrangements can be considered, subject to both business requirements and individual needs.
GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency with a mission to keep the UK safe. We use cutting-edge technology, ingenuity, and partnerships to identify, analyse, and disrupt threats. Working with our intelligence partners, MI5 and MI6, we protect the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks, and espionage.
At GCHQ, you’ll be part of varied and fascinating work in a supportive and inclusive environment that emphasises teamwork.
We’re looking for talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, including IT, customer service, and other fields where delivering exceptional experiences matter. Whether you’re changing careers or returning to work after a break, this is your chance to make an impact at the heart of our organisation.
No prior experience with our tools or systems? No problem. We’ll provide full training so you can gain the skills to support the UK’s Intelligence Services.
Our technology must run flawlessly every day. Our skilled IT Customer Support colleagues keep us and our partners connected and ready to respond to threats.
As a First Line IT Customer Support professional, you’ll join a friendly team delivering essential IT services: creating secure accounts, helping set up new equipment, updating our Service Request Catalogue, and finding ways to improve how we work.
There’s no single ‘type’ of person for this role. We value fresh ideas and different perspectives. With flexible working, learning opportunities and a supportive culture, you’ll have everything you need to build a rewarding career.
The application window for the First Line IT Customer Support role opens at 10am on Monday 16 February. In the meantime, we encourage women to register their interest*.
Once you register, you’ll gain access to a series of online events ahead of the campaign launch, including Insight sessions to explore the role and a Skills session with practical tips for applications and interviews.
Upcoming Events
We’re hosting three sessions to help you prepare and succeed:
Insight Events on Wednesday 11 February, at 13.00 to 14:00 and 18:00 to 19:00.
The content will be the same across both sessions, so you only need to attend one.
Skills Event on Thursday 12 February at 13:00 to 14:00.
Each event will last approximately one hour.
Please note that registering your interest does not constitute a job application, nor will it have any bearing on the recruitment process. Anyone who registers their interest and later decides to apply for the First Line IT Customer Support role will need to complete an application form once the application window opens.
*We are currently limiting registrations of interest to women due to their under-representation in our workforce. Once the application window opens, we welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of ethnic background, gender, disability, or any other characteristic(s).
