Mechanical Design Engineer/Project Manager
Cheltenham
Holiday: 24 days per annum
Contract Type: Permanent. Monday to Friday.
Induction Coil Solutions are looking for a skilled, Solidworks proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team at their facility in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of a wide range of bespoke Induction equipment and tooling for a wide range of industries, and to provide technical hands-on support to the Manufacturing team on a daily basis.
You will be working closely with the Technical Director on all projects and will be expected to assist him visiting customer sites as and when required. This will be UK wide, so an overnight stay maybe required on an adhoc basis, and possible potential for overseas visits.
Key responsibilities are:
- Manage and oversee mechanical projects from conception to completion.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop innovative solutions.
- Carry out detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling when required, and design verification testing, as required.
- Responsible for mechanical component selection taking into consideration standardisation, obsolescence, availability and cost.
- Responsible for preparing and presenting mechanical designs at design reviews.
- Highlight all mechanical/technical risks to the Technical Director and the Manufacturing Manager.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure that the required information is available when needed and customer requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Produce Customer Sign off drawings for new orders.
- Responsible for meeting design budgets and timelines.
- Responsible for generation of Assembly drawings and bills of materials.
- Responsible for carrying out design change requests in a timely manner, and ensuring the correct revised drawing is reissued to the manufacturing team.
- Creation of technical reports and documentation as required for customers and development projects.
- To visit customer sites as and when required.
- Take technical lead on specific projects and agree technical approach with the Technical Director and Manufacturing Manager.
- Responsible for checking drawing libraries are up to date and correct regularly.
- Responsible for checking and signing off customer drawings before they are issued to the manufacturing team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient in Solidworks with the skills required to produce and understand technical drawings.
- Electrical appreciation an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues and customers of all levels.
- Good written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and highly efficient.
- Ability to project manage and meet deadlines and timescales.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent team player.
- Willingness to support the manufacturing team with a hands-on approach.
- Driving licence
- Up to date Passport

Salary: £50,000.00 - £60,000.00 per annum – depending on experience
