Severn Vale School is an Academy which provides an inclusive secondary education for students aged 11-16, that delivers strong student outcomes through high quality teaching and outstanding pastoral care. We are looking to appoint a dynamic Positive Behaviour Mentor to our wonderful SEND Department. The role is to support students with behavioural challenges enabling them to recognise their negative behaviour patterns and the impact this has on their learning.

We are seeking an individual who is looking to make a positive difference to the lives of young people and can gain trust from students. You will be working with young people with a range of needs that may include cognition and learning, communication and interaction, sensory and physical, and SEMH, to help them recognise and manage their behaviours, raising their self-esteem and supporting them to reach their potential.

Experience of working with young adults in a relevant setting is essential.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has extensive experience or a suitable relevant qualification in working with challenging young people and raising achievement
• Has a positive approach to working with students to support them in achieving success
• Has high expectations of all students
• Can build relationships with young learners and has an ability to motivate and inspire confidence in students
• Is resilient, pro-active and able to work as part of a team
• Has good interpersonal skills and is a strong communicator
• Is able to prioritise and manage tasks independently and within a team environment.
• Has an excellent knowledge of SEND or is willing to undertake the necessary training
• Is flexible and versatile
• Has the ability to use their own initiative and adopt practices as necessary

This position is 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset).
