Head of Fundraising

Cheltenham

Contract Type: Permanent

About the role

Are you a successful Fundraising Leader or Head of Fundraising looking for a fresh challenge with an exciting and innovative Charity? This is a great time to join medical imaging charity, Cobalt, as our Head of Fundraising as we enter our 60th year.  Leading the way in diagnostic imaging, Cobalt is working in partnership with the NHS to improve cancer and dementia outcomes now and in the future.

As Head of Fundraising, you’ll ensure that we continue to grow our fundraising profile and successes to enable us to continue to make a difference.

You’ll have a passion for the work we do, raising funds to support patients and their families through state-of-the-art equipment, cutting-edge research and innovative projects that fund specialist nursing and research posts.

You’ll have experience at a senior level with a proven track record of success in generating income and managing capital appeals. You will set the fundraising strategy with the Trustees and Senior Management, lead and manage the existing fundraising team and manage and grow relationships with our valued network of supporters, volunteers, and partners. As well as overseeing and implementing the fundraising strategy and initiatives to ensure we meet our ambitious targets, you’ll also be hands on, with significant practical experience in at least one of the following areas: corporates, major gifts, grants and legacies.

An excellent communicator, you will be adept at building strong relationships with staff, volunteers and supporters.  You will be comfortable being front facing, representing the Charity, hosting events and networking.  Working collaboratively with the senior team, you’ll be able to think and work at a strategic level and put operational plans in place.  Proactive and creative in your approach, you will also be well organised with strong attention to detail.  You’ll ensure high standards, with a professional and ethical approach to your work, and be motivated to make a difference.

About Cobalt

Cobalt Health (Cobalt) is an independent medical Charity with a vision to pioneer innovation in medical imaging diagnosis. Cobalt invests in equipment, integrated research and education, to improve outcomes for patients now and in the future. Each year it provides diagnostic imaging for over 130,000 patients at its imaging centres in Cheltenham and Birmingham, and through a fleet of fourteen MRI, CT and PET/CT mobile scanners. The Charity is the leading provider of ultra-low dose CT lung cancer screening services in the UK, working in partnership with the NHS.

Cobalt focuses on offering equipment and services not generally available within the NHS, using the latest technology to deliver superior image quality, improve patient comfort and enable shorter scanning times. The Charity strongly believes that all patients should have access to a clear diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan facilitated by the best equipment, helping doctors to make a clear diagnosis and appropriate personalised treatment plan.

Alongside its diagnostic services, Cobalt also funds and participates in research on a national and international basis. The Charity is currently supporting many research projects and clinical trials, with the aim of advancing the detection and treatment of cancer, dementia and other long-term conditions. The Charity also provides training programmes for medical professionals, including GPs, consultants, physiotherapists, and chiropractors; and supports undergraduate radiography students with clinical placements.
