Peripatetic Singing / Cello / Piano Teacher

Starting September 2026

The Team
The music department has a wide extra-curricular offer running from small ensembles through to larger bands. We regularly perform in wider community at fayres and festivals and put on two shows in conjunction with the drama department every year.

The Role
We are seeking to increase the teaching capacity for Voice, Cello and Piano to facilitate a range of musical opportunities for students and the peripatetic music provision in the school. We are seeking teachers who can teach one or more of these instruments/skills; the ability to teach more than one would be advantageous but is not essential. This is a self-employed role, and the school cannot guarantee work as this is dependent upon student lesson uptake, although, as it stands, there is a waiting list for students wanting singing lessons. There is the possibility to expand the provision further should the arrangement prove successful.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for music and experience of teaching music, or voice in a creative and highly engaging fashion. The successful person will have expert subject knowledge and be an excellent teacher of music. This post is suitable for an experienced teacher, performer or recent graduate who has a passion for music. There is an expectation of parental communication about student progress on a termly basis via email and invoicing parents directly for your services. The current hourly rate is £40 with most lessons lasting 30 minutes.

If you are someone who wants to develop their career in a forward thinking and highly supportive environment, who can foster effective and harmonious relationships with members of staff and who truly believes, like we do, that every child can achieve excellence, then we look forward to receiving your application.

The successful applicant will:
• Be highly ambitious for all students
• Be willing to run / help run extra-curricular activities within school
• Be willing to contribute to the wider school curriculum - in particular help prepare GCSE and A level students for performance exams.
• Be adaptable and flexible and work with enthusiasm
• Share the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and undertake relevant training as required.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, and volunteers, to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
