Facilities Manager

Cheltenham

The Facilities Manager will be an HOD level member of the Technical & Maintenance Department of the Theatre and is responsible to the Technical Manager.

We are seeking a Facilities professional with robust health and safety knowledge to increase our facilities management capacity and help ensure the functionality, comfort, safety, sustainability and efficiency of our historic building for all who use it. The Facilities Manger will also be responsible for the management of delivery specific projects.

Time split is expected to be approximately 50/50between projects and operational responsibilities.

Project responsibilities:

Review of the Theatre’s facilities systems, plant, equipment and maintenance regimes.The aims of this will be to make sure we have a full understanding of all current plant and systems and a maintenance/renewal plan focused on effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability. We are currently working with a well known external environmental consultancy and anticipate continuous improvement activities to require management.

Fire Doors and Fire Stopping improvements work–manage the continued planning and delivery of these works including working on listed building consent, managing of contractors and other activities to deliver the project to time, scope and budget.

Insurance Asset Review – complete work on gathering information on assets and collate information in the format required for insurance valuation.

Manage other projects as requested and workload allows.

Operational responsibilities:

1. Provide facilities management advice and guidance across the Theatre operations.
2. Work with other departments across the Theatre to ensure effective service delivery in all aspects of facilities and maintenance.
3. To provide support to the Everyman Catering Company in the management of H&S compliance especially in relation to plant and equipment.
4. Support the H&S Managers with creation, review and implementation of Health and Safety Policy & Risk Assessment for relevant areas.
5. Following and improving planned maintenance regimes for plant and equipment, ensuring that maintenance records are held on file (excluding the stage and the electrical systems).
6. Taking a pro-active part in the theatre’s work on reviewing and reducing our environmental impact.
7. Ensuring that all contractors working on-site in their area of responsibility have (via completion of a Contractor Health and Safety Assessment Form) received a H&S induction and that, where appropriate, suitable and sufficient risk assessments and/or method statements have been provided and are on file. Also guiding other staff on following these procedures.
8. Supporting the Technical & Theatre Managers in managing the Everyman Theatre’s Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Evacuation Procedure.
9. Being a member of the Everyman Theatre’s Health and Safety Committee, attending regular meetings. Organisational support of these meetings including minute taking and action tracking
10. Attendance at Staff and Team meetings.
11. As a staff member of the Everyman, through his/her duty of care ensuring that the working environment and practices conform to Health and Safety legislation and the Everyman’s Health and Safety Policy.
12. To undertake such other relevant duties as may be requested from time to time by the Technical Manager.

Person specification, knowledge, skills, experience:
Essential:

• Demonstrable experience of facilities management in a building of a similar scale and/or complexity
• Up to date knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to facilities management.
• Good inter-personal skills including the ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, initiative, ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
• Someonewho enjoys a busy and varied workplace.
• Good Computer literacy.

Desirable:

• Facilities Management qualification at Level 3 or higher.
• Relevant H&S qualification such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
• Experience of working in a Theatre, Cultural or Hospitality environment.
• Experience of facilities management in a Heritage/Listed Building.
• Experience of working with Building Management Systems and HVAC.
• Experience of compliance software packages.
• An interest in theatre.
