Operations Manager (12 month Secondment), Home-Start NW Glos, - OMHSNWG0725

Home-Start North and West Gloucestershire exists to support families with children under 5 living in Tewkesbury, Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean. Thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers and staff, we come alongside parents to help them navigate the challenges that they are facing in their parenting journey, helping to give children the best start in life.
As Operations Manager you will lead the team into the next chapter of our development.
In summary you will be responsible for:
- the day to day running of the charity
- overseeing all of our family support work and Groups
- working closely with our finance and fundraising staff
We are looking for someone who has extensive experience of the family support sector and someone who has strong management skills to ensure that our charity continues to deliver this vital work to families in Gloucestershire.
Main responsibilities include:
Leadership and People Management:
- To provide leadership and line management to a staff team of 10 and a volunteer team of approximately 35 active volunteers and growing..
- To work closely with Fundraising, Finance leads and Trustees to ensure coordination and fulfilment of the strategic plan.
- To be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of staff recruitment, development and training, supervision, grievance and appraisal procedures are conducted in accordance with accepted good practice and in line with Home-Start UK Policies.
- To ensure the implementation of all policies throughout Home-Start NW Gloucestershire.
- To oversee and ensure all aspects of volunteer recruitment, development, training and supervision procedures are developed and conducted in accordance with HSUK policies.
- To prioritize and foster a positive team culture by actively managing and promoting the overall wellbeing of team members, ensuring a supportive and healthy work environment conducive to personal and professional growth.
Family Support and Group Management:
- Maintaining an overview of the work with families, ensuring support to families is of a high standard, in accordance with Home-Start’s model, policies and procedures
- Monitoring and evaluation of all services.
- To undertake the designated safeguarding lead role and promote children’s welfare within the charity
- To ensure all systems and processes are in place and aligned with Home Start UK’s practices and Quality Assurance in collaboration with the board of trustees.
- To maintain and further develop operational management in all aspects of running the charity.
- To streamline practices and opportunities across the organisation and within the Home-Start in Gloucestershire Consortium.
Fundraising and Income Generation:
- To work with the Trustees on the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy in line with the organisation’s plans.
- To manage and build relationships with key stakeholders ensuring excellent understanding of the value and importance of Home-Start NW Gloucestershire work.
- To work in partnership within the Home-Start in Gloucestershire consortium in the above areas to raise the profile and scope of the charity across the county.
- To maintain relationships with existing funders and complete required reports as specified as part of funding agreement.
Finance:
- To work with the Finance Lead and Treasurer to develop financial plans and budgets.
- To ensure continued financial viability and strength of the charity through sound financial management and effective budgeting.
- To contribute to ensuring that:
o To produce the Annual Report in line with current guidance.
o The AGM is held, and annual accounts are approved at the meeting.
o Financial procedures are effectively maintained.
o Project budgets and reports are produced.
Board and Governance
- To provide an operations report to every Board meeting.
- To attend all Board meetings and Sub-groups as required.
- To work with the Chair and the Board of Trustees to identify, recruit and induct new trustees.
- To ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies and HSUK requirements
