Job Purpose
Becoming an Academic Mentor allows you to make a real difference to pupils within our school who require additional support to achieve in line with or above age-related expectations. You will be working alongside the pupil’s teachers and SENDCO to provide targeted support for pupils.

Relationships
The post holder is responsible to the head teacher for his/her duties and responsibilities as well as developing a good relationship with teachers and the extended leadership team. They interact on a professional level with colleagues and seek to establish and maintain productive relationships with them in order to maximise pupil progress.

Duties
This job description describes in general terms the normal duties which the post-holder will be expected to undertake. However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post.

Responsibilities of the role:
•Working with class teachers and the extended leadership team to identify the support each pupil needs.
•Identify learning gaps and helping to shape bespoke intervention programmes for pupils
•Developing and delivering engaging sessions to support a range of individual needs with clear learning objectives, considering any barriers to learning or additional needs
•Provide personalised feedback to pupils and identify next steps in their learning.
•Report back to the SENDCO and class teacher
•Carefully monitor the impact of the interventions delivered using entry and exit data and the school monitoring system.
•Delivering measurable outcomes from each session to track progress
Administrative duties
1.Keep detailed records of pupil attainment and progress
2.Prepare and resource each session
3.Mark pupils work following each session;
4.Make resources to support the learning of pupils;
5.Undertake other duties from time to time as the head teacher requires

Standards and quality assurance
1.Support the aims and ethos of the school;
2.Make certain that policies relating to Safeguarding and Health and Safety are adhered to;
3.Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance;
4.Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the head teacher
5.Work effectively, to targets set though performance management and in line with school improvement priorities
6.Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.

Additional duties
1.Preparation at the beginning and end of school day.
2.Supporting teachers in the implementation of specific interventions
3.Contribute to and review pupil progress daily, termly and annually
4.Support extra-curricular activities including academic afterschool clubs
5.Report to parents if required
6.Attend all staff meetings and training where required

Start: ASAP
CONTRACT: Fixed Term until 31st August 2026
CLOSING DATE: 3rd June @ 9am
INTERVIEWS: Monday 9th June 2025
Hours: Time Equivalent. 9:00 – 12:30 a day, plus PPA allocation
