Harewood Infant School is a large and successful, infant school in Tuffley. We currently have five mixed Reception and Year 1 classes and three Year 2 classes. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and inspiring teacher to join our Year 2 team. The successful candidate will be committed to achieving high standards of attainment and behaviour, will be proactive, creative and flexible in their approach and will have the ability to understand and adapt provision for the needs of all children.

In return, we can offer a fantastic work environment and an engaging curriculum, friendly, supportive colleagues who work well as a team and motivated children who behave well. The school has an ongoing, shared commitment to staff wellbeing and will seek out and support opportunities for professional development.

This is a full time maternity cover post starting from September 1st 2026 until the end of February 2027 (or 4 weeks' notice linked to maternity leave.) However, there may be a possibility of ongoing work which could be part time in the first instance.

Application deadline: Thursday 4th June 2026

Interview date: TBA

Please refer to the school's safeguarding policy which can be found on the school website. It is a condition of employment that the employee should not have been convicted of a criminal offence against children, nor have been dismissed, or resigned from, a previous employer for misconduct of a similar nature. Having a criminal record is not necessarily a bar to employment; it would depend on the nature, circumstances and background to the offence.

As part of our due diligence within safer recruitment, school will be carrying out online searches to help identify any incidents or issues which may need to be explored at interview. These searches will include, but will not be limited to the main social networking sites, including Instagram and Facebook.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
