Class People are working in partnership with a range of welcoming and inclusive schools across Gloucestershire who are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Learning Support Assistants or individuals with a background in care, support work or youth work who are passionate about making a difference in education.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to help students access learning and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
Supporting students with communication and interaction needs, including speech and language
Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Supporting students with daily routines and transitions throughout the school day
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are:
Experienced in supporting children or young people with SEN (education, care or similar settings)
Patient, empathetic and adaptable in their approach
Confident working 1:1 or with small groups
Strong communicators who can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Proactive and able to use their initiative
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
Speech and Language support
Autism (ASC)
ADHD
AAC or alternative communication methods
Personal care or complex needs
