Class Teacher at The Shrubberies School

Class Teacher at The Shrubberies School

Stonehouse, Gloucestershire

We are a welcoming and aspirational special school for pupils aged 2 to 19, where relationships come first and progress is measured in confidence, independence and joy, as well as academic achievement. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teacher to join our team, with an initial placement in our Upper School Department.

At our school, teaching is about far more than delivering lessons. It is about unlocking potential, nurturing communication, and supporting young people to develop the skills they need for adulthood and life beyond school. Our pupils have a wide range of additional needs, and every day brings opportunities to make a genuine and lasting difference.

What we offer
• Enthusiastic, curious pupils who inspire us every day
• A highly supportive, skilled and collaborative staff team
• A strong culture of professional development and shared practice
• The opportunity to work creatively and flexibly, adapting learning to meet individual needs
• A school community that values kindness, patience and ambition in equal measure

Who we’re looking for
You may be an experienced special school teacher or a passionate teacher eager to develop your practice in SEND. Most importantly, you will:
• Believe in the potential of every young person
• Be reflective, resilient and open to learning
• Enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Bring warmth, creativity and commitment to your classroom

Experience of teaching pupils with additional needs is welcomed but not essential – the right attitude, values and willingness to grow matter most.
If you are looking for a role where your work truly matters, where progress is personal and relationships are central, we would love to hear from you.
Emphasis on staff wellbeing is an integral part of our culture and we provide an outstanding working environment with a low turnover of staff. We appreciate that our staff are our greatest asset. We continue to be a good school, as confirmed by Ofsted following their visit in April 2024.
If you would like the opportunity to see, feel and understand the school's facilities for yourself, please do get in touch to arrange an informal visit. We hope after reading the specifics of the role and a potential visit that you choose to apply for the position, and we thank you in advance for your completed application.
We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully-enhanced DBS.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, and volunteers, to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Closing Date for Applications: 4th February 2026
