Reader / Art Worker
Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
The Royal Pigeon Racing Association (RPRA), based in Stonehouse, provides support for pigeon racing clubs and individuals across the UK. We are seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, and proactive Reader/Art Worker to join our team and assist in the production of our weekly publication and be part of a passionate team supporting a unique and historic sport. Your work will directly contribute to a publication enjoyed by thousands of members across the UK.
This role involves working with submitted articles and photographs, ensuring content is prepared to print-ready standards. You'll be part of a small, collaborative team, reporting directly to the Head Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling incoming calls and emails
- Reading and reviewing articles submitted by our members
- Setting text using QuarkXPress
- Resizing and preparing photographs to meet print specifications
- Creating and formatting small/classified adverts in QuarkXPress
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident with IT systems, including Microsoft Office
- Experience working on Apple Mac platforms
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- A flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to adapt
Note: No prior knowledge of pigeon racing is required.
Working Hours & Benefits
- Full-time: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday (9am–5pm, 1-hour unpaid lunch break)
- Part-time and hybrid working options considered
- 21 days holiday per year (pro-rata), plus public and bank holidays
