Deupty Manager - New Shop Opening

WE HAVE AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR A 30 HOUR DEPUTY MANAGER TO SUPPORT WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR NEW FURNITURE SHOP IN STROUD.

Aims

We have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Manager who is experienced in and has a true passion for retail and a desire to help set up a new venture in our brand-new furniture shop on the outskirts of Stroud.

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home has 7 shops operating throughout the Cotswolds.  Income generated through our shops is used to support our charitable work ensuring that every vulnerable animal in our community has a safe space & no animal is left to suffer because of cost.  Our retail team are passionate about our shops; focused on sustainability & upcycling, excellent customer service & delivering exceptional results income generated by our retail team support abused, neglected & abandoned animals on their journey to loving homes.

Main purpose of job

• To assist the Retail Manager in maintaining a strong presence in the local community, maximising sales & profit targets & minimising costs.
• To assume full responsibility for all aspects of the shop in the absence of the shop manager.
• You will show a commitment to the aims of CDCH & possess a willingness & ability to learn & follow direction.
• This role is broad based & you will be expected to be able to manage several different tasks simultaneously & actively contribute to the smooth functioning of the shop.
• This job has physically active elements. Employees are required to maintain a suitable level of fitness to enable them to perform their job effectively.

Essential skills and experience

• Full Clean Driving Licence
• Ability to work additional hours as required with a flexible approach to working

• Computer literate with experience of Outlook & use of the internet

Duties

• Assist with achieving sales, profit, Gift Aid & KPI targets
• Take responsibility to ensure the shop is adequately staffed with volunteers, at all times, during the agreed opening hours
• Provide on-going support & motivation to volunteers to ensure they carry out the role to the required standard.
• Ensure the shop meets standards required by Health & Safety, Trading Standards and Fire Regulations legislation
• Identify repairs/renovations which may be needed, ensure that they are remedied in the absence of the Retail Manager
• Key holder responsibilities
• Ensure all branch procedures & compliance are adhered to
• Support plans for increasing stock levels to generate quality donated goods
• Maintain high customer service levels & standards at all parts of the customer journey
• Ensure that effective stock systems are being followed both front & back of house to ensure new stock is displayed on a regular basis
• Ensure that goods in the shop are priced appropriately
• Minimise stock loss & carry out stock takes when required
• Work as part of the Retail team to provide cover at other shops when required

Accountable to: Retail Shop Manager Supervised by: Deputy Retail Operations Manager

Hours: 30 hours per week flexible Monday to Sunday based on a 7.5 hour day with a half hour unpaid lunch break.

All new employees to the charity will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
