Position: Teaching Assistant
Reports to: Class Teacher/SENCO
Hours: 25.5 hours per week.
These will be Monday and Tuesday 8.45-3.15 pm and Wednesday and
Thursday 8.45-4.30 pm. Term time only
Grade: 3 Scale 4
Contract: Fixed Term for one year, but may become permanent (3 month trial period)
Start Date: Immediate

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work alongside the teaching staff to support the learning needs of children across the school, including some 1:1 support.
This position would be suitable for an NQT

• Can provide support for students, particularly those with additional needs

• Can assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes

• Is able to liaise with pupils’ families and professionals involved

Job Purpose
• To support staff with their responsibility for the care, development and education of children, including those with SEN.

Duties and responsibilities;
• To work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management /preparation of resources. Staff may also supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of teachers. Staff will also be expected to provide support and cover for 1:1 TA as well as providing cover for other staff during break and lunchtimes when required

SUPPORT FOR PUPILS
• Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils
• Assist with the development and implementation of MyPlans and MyPlan+ and EHCP
• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
• Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs
• Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities
• Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
• Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement

SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHER
• Work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment
• Work with the teacher in lesson planning
