Humanities (specialism in Geography) Teacher (permanent) required for boys' Grammar School (mixed sixth form) from September 2024. Sir Thomas Rich's School is dedicated to mentoring and supporting staff within the profession.

The role
The Geography Department at Sir Thomas Rich’s School comprises teachers who are hardworking and passionate about their subject and who strive to develop the intellectual curiosity of our students. Geography is a very popular subject in the school with significant numbers opting for Geography at both GCSE and A-Level. The School follows the OCR specification at GCSE and Eduqas course at A Level. Regular fieldtrips in all key stages are popular with students, and help to extend learning about people and place beyond the classroom, testing theories and concepts in real-world scenarios. Currently, there is a mix of five full and part time teachers who work collaboratively to plan and find new and exciting ways of teaching their subject. About you
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative, highly motivated, outstanding graduate to teach either Geography, Religious Education or History at Key Stage 3, and Geography from Key Stage 4 to Oxbridge entry. This permanent full-time post (part-time may be considered for the right candidate) would be equally well suited to an ambitious ECT or a more experienced teacher willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the School. Founded in 1666 as the Blue Coat Hospital, today Sir Thomas Rich’s is a progressive grammar school for boys in Years 7 to 11, and young men and women in the sixth form. We are consistently one of the highest attaining schools in the county and we are proud of our long-standing reputation for academic and sporting excellence. GCSE results consistently come in the top 10% for attainment and value added in the country. Our students typically achieve ten or eleven GCSEs, mostly at the highest grades, and three or four A-levels, mostly at grades A*, A and B.
