Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Cheltenham

Required for September 2024 and for a fixed period of maternity cover (expected to terminate in April 2025), Cheltenham Preparatory School is seeking to appoint an experienced Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils in English lessons. This will predominantly be in Years 5 and/or 6 with some time potentially spent working in Years 7 and 8, the Library, and delivering small group/1:1 interventions.

The postholder will play a key role in supporting the class teacher and will provide the necessary level of support for pupils to ensure they have the best possible access to learning.

Applicants should be able to able to:

build effective relationships at all levels, including with pupils, class teachers, SLT and parents.
adapt their way of working for each pupil, differentiating the work to meet pupils’ needs and support their access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources.
challenge and motivate pupils, promoting and reinforcing selfesteem.

This is a part time, term time role (20 hours per week / 33 weeks per year) and the salary will be pro-rated to reflect this. College has its own highly competitive salary scale.

The exact hours will be confirmed as soon as the timetable for the new academic year has been constructed.
