Saint John’s is a one-form entry Church of England Primary School. We value being part of a caring and culturally diverse community. Our aim is to be a school where we all flourish, children and adults alike.

The Governing Body of Saint John’s C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint individuals who care about children and are passionate about providing support within the classroom environment to individual and groups of children.

This role is most likely to involve supporting an individual child or small group of children either within the classroom or within our Nest. Those children who find the classroom environment hard to manage are given the opportunity to work in an area with more informality, fewer children and reduced noise.

We are looking for those who will:
• Be caring and enjoy working with children in a school environment
• Be willing to support the Christian ethos of the school
• Form secure and supportive relationships with the children and their families
• Have a calm demeanour and a good sense of humour
• Work effectively as a team member and can use their own initiative
• Have a good level of English and Maths skills to support these areas of the
curriculum
• Maintain confidentiality at all times as appropriate

We can offer you:
• A happy school with vibrant, enthusiastic and well-behaved children
• A welcoming and dedicated team of staff
• A supportive Governing Body
• A commitment to support your own professional development.

If you would like to discuss this role before applying, please do call the school and arrange a visit. The Headteacher, Mrs Victoria Beevers, would be delighted to speak with you.

For more information, please contact our School Business Manager, Mrs Alexandra Mayhew, at finance@st-johns-pri.gloucs.sch.uk or call 01242 523786.

Further details, including the person specification and the job description, are available on request.

Saint John’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references which will be sought prior to interview. As part of our due diligence within safer recruitment, school will explore any gaps or anomalies within the application form and online searches will be carried out to help identify any incidents or issues which may need to be discussed at interview. The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, a prohibition check, qualifications (where applicable), medical fitness, identity and right to work. We are an equal opportunities employer. Details of the policies and procedures we have in place in school can be found on the school website.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, and volunteers, to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
