Teaching Assistant

Gloucester

Key Duties

1. Undertake those activities necessary for students to access the curriculum and to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of individuals and groups of children, including students with special needs.
2. Assist the classroom teaching in the planning of work programmes for individuals and groups of children.
3. Within competence to assist the teacher in the delivery of educational and developmental work programmes.
4. Use differentiated materials provided by the subject teacher and the SEN Department.
5. Ensure that students are aware of the homework set and can access the online homework platform.
6. Support identified students in their personal and academic organisation.
7. Raise students’ self-esteem and expectations.
8. Records students’ progress on a daily basis and contribute to target setting as directed.
9. Contribute to the process of compiling a student’s My Plan and helping students to meet agreed targets and contribute to the compilation of annual reviews.
10. Attend SEN Departmental meetings as required.
11. Be prepared to work 1:1 or in small groups with students to support learning where appropriate and as directed.
12. Contribute to the creation and delivery of pre-teaching materials with appropriate support.
13. Liaise with families and outside professionals in a timely and professional manner when necessary.
14. To carry out any other relevant tasks as directed by the Principal, SENDCo or Assistant SENDCo.
