Job description
National Star’s Occupational Therapy team work with students in a wide variety of settings to help learners gain the skills to become more independent.

Our OT Deputy Manager taking a period of maternity leave so we are looking for an experienced professional who can step into her shoes while she is away.

You are likely to have worked as an occupational therapist for several years and during that time, supervised, developed and motivated more junior colleagues to give their best at work. You will be confident in conducting performance reviews and may have previous experience of managing budgets. You will take the lead in supervising and supporting the occupational therapist and occupational therapy assistants working within across our sites as required.

We’re expecting you will have worked with people with a broad range of physical and learning disabilities, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and Acquired Brain Injury. Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams will be second nature to you. Although you will be working as part of the department’s management team you will have the satisfaction of also managing your own caseload.

A knowledge of sensory integration and posture management would help you to hit the ground running in this role. It goes without saying that you will also have excellent observational and communications skills and a creative and flexible approach to work.

Your creativity will come to the fore as you work alongside the head of department to help the OT team to grow and develop. Now is an exciting time to bring your skills and experience to our charity, adding real value to the working of the OT team.

This is a term time only role working 42 hours a week over 40 weeks.  We would ideally like this to be a full time role, but could consider 4 days a week for the right applicant.
