o Specialised eating and drinking assessments and interventionso Education, training, support and advice to colleagues and carers to enable them to provide the best possible careo Clinical supervision for less experienced Speech and Language Therapists and Speech and Language Therapy Students
About LDISS
LDISS are a nationally recognised service, providing people with a Learning Disability that cannot be supported in mainstream services, support in the community, with the aim of keeping people in their homes and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.
In addition to supporting people to live their best lives in the community, LDISS provide assessment, therapy and training in Berkeley House, a seven-bedded assessment and treatment service for people with learning disabilities
Main duties of the job
The post is fulltime and will be split across our Community Learning Disability Team in Gloucester and our Learning Disability Intensive Support Service (LDISS).
You will be part of a small friendly multidisciplinary team comprising of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Psychologists, Psychiatrists.
As an invaluable member of the team you will be responsible for:
- Providing a highly specialist speech and language therapy service to adults and children with learning disabilities.
- Providing highly specialist communication assessment and implementation of evidence-based interventions to individuals who are referred to LDISS or Berkeley House.
- Providing specialist eating and drinking assessments and interventions to adults with learning disabilities referred to either service.
There is a requirement that you will:
- Be a supervisor and mentor for Band 5/6 SLTs and students under the remit of the profession.
Carry out delegated tasks outlined within policy development
We provide excellent appraisal, mentoring and clinical supervision, and you will benefit from working closely with highly experienced and approachable speech and language therapists.
