Job summary
We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic highly specialist musculoskeletal clinicians, with leadership and operational management skills, to join our high-performing MSK service in Gloucestershire as Band 7 Clinical Specialists.
The post holders will work as a highly specialist practitioners in MSK Outpatients using advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide comprehensive patient management with a complex and varied caseload. With support and training (if required), they will be expected to deliver joint and soft tissue injections to MSK patients to support the MSK pathway. The post holders will exercise a high degree of professional autonomy, leading best practice and service development, working together across our two sites at Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals.
The post holders will take responsibility for monitoring, evaluating and supporting the development of staff through effective supervision and appraisal, to ensure a high standard of quality, evidence-based clinical practice and patient safety.
Alongside a high clinical and educational commitment, the post holders will also be expected support the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist to operationally manage staff working in MSK Outpatients.
The post holders will join a large MSK Outpatient service that works alongside the MSK Advanced Practitioner and MSK Specialist Triage Services, offering excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive and friendly environment.
Main duties of the job
- To work as a highly specialist practitioner in MSK Outpatients using highly specialist theoretical knowledge, clinical experience and advanced clinical reasoning to provide comprehensive patient management. This will include patients with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies and those referred from other therapists and health care professionals for a second opinion/advice on further management.
- The post holder will expect and be willing to rotate across hospital sites and off-site locations, as required.
- Demonstrate critical and evaluative practice in soft tissue and joint injection, where the post holder holds a Masters level module in Injection Therapy and practices under the legislative framework of a PGD and as per Trust Policy.
- To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the staff working within the specialty and taking action as necessary to ensure a high standard of evidence based clinical practice and patient safety, in order to fulfil clinical governance requirements.
- To operationally manage staff working within the MSK Outpatients specialty, including supervision, annual appraisal, training and general support.
- To participate in the supervision, caseload monitoring and clinical education of experienced and novice Therapists. Providing support, guidance, training, and assessing and evaluating competence and capability, in order to fulfil clinical governance requirements and retain a skilled workforce.
