Hospice @ Home Car Care Volunteer

Location: Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, Cheltenham
About the role
Our equipment makes it possible for us to provide care to people when they need it most and our Hospice @ Home nurses use electric vehicles to visit our patients in the local community. In this role you’ll work as part of our maintenance team to carry out everyday tasks that help keep our vehicles clean, safe and well maintained for our nurses.
Activities will include:
• Basic maintenance: checking washer fluid, tyre pressure and wear, and lights
• Cleaning vehicles inside and out
• Noting any further maintenance requirements and informing staff
What we hope you’ll bring to the role
You might not have experience of everything on this list. That’s fine; finding the right person is more important to us than ticking all the boxes.
We hope you’ll:
• Have a clean driving licence held for at least 1 year – this is essential as you may be required to move the cars around our site
• Be flexible as to when we may need you as our nurses work shifts, but it would always be within the daytime for a maximum of 2 – 3 hours at a time
• Understand how important health and safety is
• Be reliable and professional
• Have a warm, friendly, adaptable approach
• Be enthusiastic and self-motivated
• Enjoy working independently and as part of a team
• Be open minded about different lifestyles and values
