Listening Circle Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to run our peer support groups in Gloucestershire in the following areas:
Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Stonehouse, Dursley, Nailsworth, Cheltenham, Newent.
Who is the National Association of Therapeutic Parents (NATP)
The National Association of Therapeutic Parents are a not-for-profit organisation which provides a supportive community dedicated to empowering parents of children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences or whose children present with neurodivergent characteristics.
We strive to be a place where parents can come together to build relationships, gain knowledge and share experiences. Our goal is to create a community of support and understanding, raise awareness of compassion fatigue, and support parents who experience this, with the aim of helping our children reach their full potential.
NATP is part of The Centre of Excellence in Child Trauma (C0ECT)
About this role
The role of a Listening Circle Coordinator is to facilitate regular Listening Circles as support groups for current members of NATP.
A Listening Circle Coordinator does not need to be an expert, but does need to have lived experience of caring for children who are neurodivergent or have experienced early life trauma. We have a firm support network for all members to access if they need help and advice.
What will I be doing?
- Facilitate a listening circle (peer support group)
- Set a date, time and place to meet and notify the head office so that they can help promote it to the members.
- Attend the listening circle every month.
What skills do I need?
A Listening Circle Coordinator does need:
- Lived experience and understanding of Therapeutic Parenting principles and strategies.
- Compassion
- Empathic Listening Skills

How much time do I need to commit?
We are looking for someone who can volunteer 2 hours per month to run a Listening Circle in their area for other parents to attend (child-free) meet-ups for 1-2 hours every month.
