Accounts Clerk
Thrupp, Stroud/Work from Home
Maternity Leave cover required for Accounts Clerk from 10th June 2025.
Are you a number whizz? Can you find the devil in the detail? Would you like to use your excellent knowledge of finance administration and office systems to benefit a small charity that links humans with horses to improve mental health and wellbeing?
Red Horse Foundation is looking for an accounts clerk to support our centre manager with the day-to-day management of our charity finances. You will primarily be responsible for creating invoices and statements for our clients, reconciling payments and paying expenses, with some purchasing as directed by the centre manager.
The post will require you to be on site at least one day per month, but remote working at other times may be possible.
We can provide you with a respectful and inclusive workplace, in a beautiful, tranquil setting. You will be part of a close-knit team including a centre manager, grooms and mental health professionals - and there will be opportunities to stroke a horse too!
Key responsibilities
• Process payments, invoices, income and receipts and enter data into accounting software/databases and file hard copies
• Prepare financial statements showing business income and expenditure
• Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances
• Manage employee expense claims
• Chase overdue payments
• Other administrative duties as requested by Centre Manager e.g photocopying, checking emails, answering phone
Person Specification
Essential
• Level 2 Certificate in bookkeeping or equivalent
• Proven experience as Accounts Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Virtual Assistant or Office Admin Assistant.
• Knowledge of office management systems and procedures..
• Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word and Excel in particular)
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Good team player.
• Experience of providing services in an organisation focussed on customer needs/client sensitivity.
Desirable
• Knowledge of Xero software
• Experience of working in a therapeutic environment.
