Pastoral Lead - PO 22961
Hatherley Infant School
We are seeking to recruit a Pastoral Lead to assist in the continued development of the school’s high-quality effectiveness of care, guidance and support.
The Pastoral Lead has a significant role in developing the school’s key values (respect, kindness, love, forgiveness, honesty, perseverance and joy) and will offer pupils unconditional acceptance, trust and respect and establishing good relationships with all pupils.
The post holder will provide support to children, teachers, support staff, parents and carers. In particular, they will be implementing the school’s behaviour principles and addressing the needs of children who need help to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside school, in order to achieve their full potential. They will also take a leading role in identifying and addressing barriers to attendance, working with children, families and school staff to reduce persistent attendance and ensure a supportive environment for all.
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience of working effectively with children and families in challenging circumstances.
- Experience in leading, coaching and facilitating staff in a pastoral situation.
- Experience of working with families, staff and other agencies to improve attendance, as well as initiatives that would be of benefit.
- Ability to put together integrated strategies within the context of overall objectives.
- Experience of working with and mentoring pupils to improve their life chances and opportunities.
- Strong organisational and record keeping skills.
- Experience of working with learners within a classroom environment, and of setting and raising standards.
- A good level of experience of safeguarding and the Social Care referral system and of the position of DDSL.

The post is offered at Grade 7 Points 21-25 on a fixed term basis for one year.
